About: Aloha, I'm Keiko! I'm hapa kepani, which means I'm part Hawaiian and part Japanese (specifically, I'm half Hawaiian from my dad and half Japanese from my mom). I lived on the Big Island of Hawaii for the first eleven years of my life until I moved to Seattle-- both of my parents are scientists and got jobs at the University of Washington. I do love Seattle, but I still miss my island home. I love art and all science fields but ESPECIALLY astronomy and physics, and hope to become an astrophysicist someday. I can tell you all you ever wanted to know (and more) about Doctor Who.
My other favorite things include bright colors, Converse sneakers, cupcakes, flower hairclips, skateboarding, snowboarding (a new thing I took up after moving to the PNW), LARPing and anything related to sci-fi and fantasy (but especially sci-fi), off-the-wall and British humor, Phineas and Ferb, The Magic Treehouse books, the Magic School Bus, Narnia, Harry Potter, the Pirates of the Carribbean movies, the Lord of the Rings, Firefly, Merlin, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Once Upon a Time. I also like cartooning and graphic art and I love any excuse to dress up in costumes, especially if it’s cosplaying or LARPing.

Things that drive me crazy: People who tell me I’d look cute in a cheongsam (“Um, thanks, but I’m not Chinese”), compliments on my English (“I speak English because I was BORN HERE, and so were my parents. The only other language I speak fluently is Hawaiian”), jokes about me liking math and science because I’m Asian (“Look, pal, I come from a chain of islands with very unique wildlife and geology; who WOULDN’T be fascinated by it and want to study it?”), jellyfish stings, sand in my swimsuit, my orthodontic retainer, slugs (of both the land and sea varieties), and misplacing my reading glasses. Speaking of my glasses, where did they go…?

Oh, yeah, I also talk a lot. Have you noticed?
